World Maths Day

Young people from 81 countries took part with the aim of answering over 50 million maths questions correctly via the internet. Throughout the day, the whole of Stanah school took turns to answer the questions and managed to answer a staggering 241,845 questions between them. Liz Clitherow, deputy head at Stanah, said: "The response from the children has been absolutely amazing. They have been playing the game on-line every evening and over the weekend for six weeks.  All the children's confidence has increased and many of them want to continue after the challenge day.  One of our year six pupils, Corey answered over 23,500 questions correctly, what an amazing achievement"

Chloe Needham, 11, said: "It was really fantastic. It felt like my brain was going super fast. I calculate much faster now and feel much better about doing sums in my head."

Well done to everyone concerned!
