Year 4 pupilsat Stanah Primary School today enjoyed a music lesson with a bigdifference. During their usual Wider Opportunities music lesson, in which Mr.Powlesland from the Lancashire Music Service comes to the school every Fridaymorning, the children had the job of re-writing Jessie J’s Price Tag song forComic Relief.

During the two hour lesson the Year 4 children aged 8 and 9 re-wrote three verses, the chorus, a rap, learned a guitar riff and put percussion instruments to their new song. On top of this they recorded and videoed their efforts. It was, without doubt, a first class piece by the time they had finished, involving every child.
Mrs Addison, the Year 4 teacher said “this lesson was amazing and the final result from the children was truly outstanding. Every child was involved and had a part to play and it sent shivers up my spine.”

Mr. Clough said, “This is some of the best work that I have seen in my 20 years of teaching. The achievement of these children is wonderful, I am so proud of them. We are planning to sell the finished CDs to our parents to raise extra funds for Comic Relief. I am so pleased the children have had so much fun whilst acknowledging such a worthwhile cause.”
